At the end of June, the SATURN3 consortium came together in Siegburg for its 5th General Assembly Meeting & Retreat. Surrounded by the beautiful scenery of the Michaelsberg, partners from across the consortium spent two productive days sharing project results, exchanging ideas across disciplines, and planning the exciting final year of SATURN3.
The agenda was packed with project updates, scientific presentations, and lively discussions. Partners shared their latest findings, presented valuable datasets, and explored new opportunities for collaboration across work packages. The meeting was also enriched by members of the Patient Advisory Board and the Scientific Advisory Board, whose valuable feedback and fresh perspectives helped shape the consortium’s future directions.

One of the highlights was the impressive contribution of the SATURN3 Early Career Scientists. Following a series of engaging elevator poster pitches, they presented their research during an interactive poster session that sparked lively discussions throughout the meeting. The most outstanding contributions were recognised with awards for the Best Poster and Best Talk.

A relaxed welcome dinner in Siegburg’s historic old town, coffee-break conversations, and a group walk up the nearby Michaelsberg provided plenty of opportunities to catch up, strengthen collaborations, and connect across work packages.
The meeting was a great chance to reflect on everything the consortium has achieved over the past four years— while looking ahead to the project’s final chapter. With the final project year now underway, the focus is on completing key milestones, bringing together the project’s scientific findings, and maximizing the long-term impact of the project.
The next highlight is already in sight: the two-day SATURN3 Closing Conference at 22–23 June 2027 at the DKFZ Communication Center in Heidelberg. Together with internationally renowned keynote speakers, the conference will showcase the consortium’s scientific achievements and is followed by the final internal project retreat on 24 June 2027.
Stay tuned as SATURN3 enters its final and most exciting phase!
